1. Download the latest version of Nero from the following address:
2. If you have ever had any previous versions of Nero installed continue reading the following instructions, otherwiseskip to step 8.
3. Uninstall any previous versions of Nero using windows via Control Panel > Add/Remove.
4. Download and install Nero CleanTool to delete the remains windows leftbehind:
5. Go to C:Program Files and search for any Nero folder/subfolders and delete any you find.
6. Now go to C:Program FilesCommon Files and again search for any Nerofolder/subfolders and delete any you find.
7. Optional (advanced users only): Use RegEdit and search for any references to Nero you can find, delete any you come across.
8. Install theNero installation file you downloaded from step 1.
9. When prompted enter the trial serial number you received from Nero.
If you didn’t receive a serial number go back to step 1 andrequest one again. If again you don’t receive an email, try with a different email provider (i.e. if you first tried with a hotmail email address, try with Gmail instead).
10. Do notparticipate in the "anonymous data program" when asked.
11. When installation completes, exit the installation wizard and restart your computer.
WARNING: DO NOT STARTNERO YET!
12. When windows starts back up again, download the following file:
13. Extract the contents of the RAR archive you just downloaded onto your desktop.
14. Right click on thekeygen.exe file and "Run as administrator".
Note: Vista users, ensure UAC is disabled (Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety >User Accounts > Turn User Account Control on or off > Untick checkbox > Click OK).
15. A warning dialog will appear explaining that you should temporarily disableyour antivirus and/or firewall, click yes.
16. You’ll be prompted to enter a password, enter the password: nero
17. The keygen will then open with plenty of options to get most peopleconfused.
18. Click "Remove all serials" followed by "Reset white list".
19. Then click "ReDetect nero".
20. Now go down the"Product" list, starting with "Nero 9.0 HD", click "Generate" followed by ‘Add to whitelist".
21. Do this with everyproduct in the "Product" list, the last one being "Activation (Bluray Disc Authorising Plugin)".
21. Optional: Go to start > All programs> Nero > Nero ControlCenter 4. From here you can view all your Nero product licences, all activated. Close it whenever youre done.
22. Open Nero Startsmart (Start >all programs > Nero > Nero 9 > Nero StartSmart).
23. Once Nero StartSmart fully loads up, you’ll be prompted to register Nero, click later.
24. Close NeroStartSmart and restart your computer.
25. Welcome back, now go to the following location: C:Program FilesCommon FilesNeroAdvrCntr4
26. Find the file"Neropatentactivation.exe" and rename it to "Neropatentactivation.old".
Note: To rename the file as such you must have folder view set to show fileextensions.
Vista users: Click the "Alt" key (this will enable the menu to show) > click "tools" from the menu > followed by"folder options" > and finally the "view" tab > untick "Hide extensions for known file types".
XP users: Sameinstructions as vista users, but without the need to click the "Alt" key to view the menu.
27. Now go to the following location: %SystemRoot%system32driversetc
28.Open the "hosts" file using notepad and add the following to a new line at the end of the document:
127.0.0.1     activate.nero.com
29. Save the changes to the "hosts" file.
Note: Again, vista users need to ensure UAC is disabled. If notepad fails to save the changes,ensure the document is not just read only (right click > properties), ensure you have the permissions set to allow write/modify the file. And finally make sure allfirewalls/antiviruses are disabled when editing the file.
30. Restart your computer for the final time!
31. Final Note: Now when you start Nero StartSmart you shouldnt be prompted toregister Nero, nor when you start applications like Nero Vision should you be prompted with "Patent Activation".
