Radical Image Optimization Tool (RIOT for short) is a free image optimizer that will let you to visually adjust compression parameters while keeping minimum
filesize.
It uses with a side by side (dual view) or single view interface to compare the original with the optimized image in real time and instantly see theresulting file size.
It is lightweight, fast and simple to use, yet powerful for advanced users. You will be able to control compression, number of colors, metadata settings and much more, and select image format (JPG, GIF or PNG) for your output file.
Main features:
* open many image types includingrare/scientific types
* save and optimize JPEG, GIF and PNG with a simple, clean user interface
* works in dual view: (original – optimized image) orsingle view (optimized image).
Automatic preview of resulting image
* in-place compare function (alternativelly display the original image over the optimizedimage to notice small pixel changes)
* compress files to desired filesize threshold
* fast processing (all is done in memory);
see instant results includingresulting filesize
* batch support (process multiple files at once)
* transparency handling options
* decide if you want to keep metadata (comments, IPTC,Adobe XMP, EXIF profiles, ICC profiles).
Unsupported metadata is removed
* transfer metadata between image formats (destination format must support them)
*common tools: pan and zoom, rotate, flip
* basic image adjustments: brightness, contrast, gamma, invert
* visually reduce number of unique colors for PNG andGIF images in order to reduce filesize
(two quantization methods are available: Xiaolin Wu and NeuQuant neural net)
* resize image by using well knownresample filters (ex: Lanczos3, Catmull Rom, Bicubic, and others)
* out-of-the-box support for external PNG optimizers (optipng, pngout, etc)
* thecompression and the results are comparable to those of commercial products, even higher.
* Adaptive logarithmic tone mapping algorithm (Drago) used for HDRimages
Input image types
* common bitmap images as well as Adobe Photoshop PSD files
* popular HDR formats and RAW camera images
* rare/scientific types (upto 128 bpp, integer and floating point)
v.0.4.2
- refactored resize function
- allowed specifying just width or height in batch resize
- improved PNG loading:added support for binary transparency in all bit depths,
refactored the entire Load function
- fixed ICO transparency handling
- fixed a bug with applyingproperly the settings using the keyboard
- updated libraries to LibPNG 1.4.3, OpenEXR 1.7.0, OpenJPEG 1.4.0 (SVN patch 2010-04-16),
LibRaw 0.10-Beta3, LibTIFF3.9.4 (CVS patch 2010-07-13)
- RAW plugin: actual RAW bit depth is now displayed
- Fixed loading of Pentax KX RAW images
- Minor improvements for the EXR andRAW plugins
- the plugins from RAW + HDR package now run without SSE2 CPU extensions
- greyscale conversions now use the Rec. 709 formula
- new standardconversion from RGBF(A) high dynamic range formats allows to
import such images with no tone mapping (gamma correction applied)
- fixed bug with Report filesize in Batch when using an external optimizer
- improved TIFF and PSD loading
- small performance improvement in saving JPEG
- fixed bug with non existentfiles added in Batch if typed in the open dialog
- refactored the internal function ConvertToCommon
- fixed automatic scrolling to the item on which Batch isworking (Vista)
- fixed a regression bug with losing resolution, ICC profile and background in some situations
- added Credits in About dialog, other minormodifications
- other clean-ups and improvements
